I jinxed it with the blogging...
Okay, so after I have poured out my heart online related to this kitty and how he has slept on my bed for months on his beloved barbie blanket, I find that he is now singing a new tune. He has been sleeping at the foot of my daughter's bed for THREE nights now! I am confused. Did he somehow get online, his little kitty paws scrolling through my recent entries? Have I embarrassed him? I dunno. I need a kitty psychologist....or maybe a human one.

Pink and Purple Hideousness, part II
So, back to the story I started on Wednesday....
The Barbie blanket does get used all of the time now. At first it got a lot of action in the winter as an extra blanket on my bed--yes, the big bed I share with my husband was crowned nightly with a twin-sized sleeping bag that should have been rightly hanging out with a bunch of little girls at a slumber party. But, I'm a Yankee, and extra blankets in the winter, no matter what they look like, don't go to waste. As time went on, however, it became clear that there was someone--someone with four legs and a tail--who truly enjoyed the nightly breakout of the blanket, and slept very soundly on it. I can only imagine how forlorn that individual was when I would put the Barbie blanket back into storage as winter transitioned into spring. Well, that didn't happen this past year. I have to confess that it was not just my season-transition laziness, but scenes like this that controlled my actions. So, the blanket sits rather innocuously on my bed like so, a tuffet of sorts always ready and waiting...then, as the nights get colder, it will again become the candy-coated top layer of my bed.

The lurve of my life...
Okay, I'm being completely corny and I know that, but I LOVE THIS CAT! When the demands of the day get me down; when I've had yet another completely crazy argument with my almost-18 year old son about whether the first meal of the day is still called breakfast even if you've slept-in until noon; when I look at my teenage daughter and hope that I can continue to be a good role model for her; when my house forlornly waits to be vacuumed...I scoop up this little guy (he is quite petite), squeeze his fat sack (I guess that sounds a little gross, but it's true), and promise myself that I'll try to refrain from arguing about silly things with my son; that I'll make sure I'll continue to do the best I can for my smart and lovely daughter; and, that I've got more important things to do (as I Raise the Next Generation, ahem) than clean my rumpled and messy house. Allelluia and Amen.
